Keep Calm and Carry On #tastetheworld

We believe the world isn’t just a place to visit. It’s a place to live in, to taste, to appreciate. But with borders closed, the world becomes small and we lose our sense of wonder. And while international travel might be off the cards for now, we’ve got you covered all through 2021, bringing the sights, sounds and smells of the world to you, right here in Townsville.

Journey beyond your four walls with a culinary passport to enjoy a curated selection of gourmet foods and themed events, as we visit 12 of our favourite countries, one for each month of the year. So join us here at Otto’s, as we strive to keep ticking off the bucket list and #tastetheworld!

London calling!

We’re continuing to bring the flavours of the world to you in 2021 with the next stop on our culinary journey, the grand United Kingdom.

We’ll travel through rolling farmland and across the Irish Sea, as we pull out the winter threads and get acquainted with the pageantry and rich heritage of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Unlike its weather, the food of the UK is far from dull; punching far above its weight in the culinary stakes! British food at its best is hearty, simple and delicious, drawing on the wealth of ingredients available from both land and sea.

All through March, we’ll explore food traditions that are many and varied, dispelling the myths that Brits only eat roast beef, the Scots just consume haggis, the Welsh love their leeks and the Irish just can’t do without potatoes.

From traditional pork pies to delicious fish and chips (let’s not forget the mushy peas), specialty grocery and deli lines and our St Patrick’s Day celebrations, you’ll enjoy classic foods that come with a long history, all month long. Finally, we will round out this leg of our trip with a wee dram across two incredible Mezzanine masterclass events, celebrating the Irish goodness of Jameson Whisky and the Whiskies of the World.

So while we might not be getting on any international flights this March, Otto’s is here to help you keep calm, carry on and #tastetheworld!
